Weary stained
I light up skutch again
Like our fingers are not slowly turning yellow
lets pretend
In the cycle of the dried up husk
we're bleary eyed once more, at dusk
Feel the fire through the floor
I'm in someone else's feet
find the fuel to feed the fever
so that we don't need to sleep
and throughout there is this feeling
I can't ever seem to keep
as I start into the yearning as familiar as it is deep
Chasing the dragon again
elusive, seductive.. she pretends to be my friend
the game that we all play
though we know we'll never win
wishing in the moment
for the moment not to end
In my brain I need a crutch to stand
I put my money on betrayal
as I reach out my hand
In the spirit of not keeping score
we have a few...then we have a few more
(dose em' down and pretty soon)
Feel the fire through the floor
I'm in someone else's feet
find the fuel to feed the fever
so that we don't need to sleep
and throughout there is this feeling
I can't ever seem to keep
as I start into the yearning as familiar as it is deep
Chasing the dragon again
elusive, seductive.. she pretends to be our friend
the game that we all play
though we know we'll never win
wishing in the moment
for the moment not to end
